Note: Portions of this text appear on the Space Pioneer Kickstarter page With successful funding, Space Pioneer promises to be fun, educational and like nothing else in the video game industry. We encourage you to visit their Kickstarter page for full information on the team and the project, along with video, illustrations, and a list of rewards for contributors. To see them through the project, the studio is running a crowdfunding campaign through Kickstarter. The team has worked out most of the core gameplay mechanics/concepts and is actively working on the story and artwork. Space Pioneer is currently in the pre-production stage of development. The virtual interactive platform will include a vast database that contains information about humanity’s history as a civilization, as well as a humongous assortment of images and videos gleaned from the team’s extensive cooperation with various world renowned organizations, including the Getty Museum, the Memorial Museum of Space Exploration, the European Space Agency, NASA, the Baikonur Cosmodrome Museum, the National Radio Astronomy Observatory and the Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics. and make something that mirrors the complexity of our own reality. The team’s goal is to make a project that transcends the definition of being just a videogame. In addition, he or she can research different scientifically accurate theories to upgrade their spaceship, build vast space stations and terra-form inhospitable planets. The player will be able to pilot a fully customizable spaceship into the vast regions of our universe and can colonize other planets beyond our solar system. Space Pioneer focuses on interstellar exploration it is based on images and resources from the Hubble telescope, ESA/NASA, and numerous well known observatories. The game is best described as a space sim, with real time strategy and city building mechanics. Teamed with Space Enigma Studios, a talented group of writers, journalists, designers, programmers, and musicians, the group aims to construct a game that will be the most accurate virtual representation of our universe to date. Together, the three have spent a total of 1735 days in space, with Krikalev holding the current record of 803 days, 9 hours, and 39 minutes. Watch the somewhat awkward pitch video below featuring cosmonaut Aleksandr Lazutkin and visit Kickstarter for more details.Space Pioneer is an exciting new video game being created by real world astronauts, cosmonauts, scientists and architects. The design team includes a trio of cosmonauts Sergei Krikalev, Aleksandr Lazutkin, and Sergei Avdeyev. The project is targeting an initial US$150,000 goal, eschewing traditional publishing partners to avoid having to "alter and dumb down our game to appease the higher ups". On a more cautious note, the Kickstarter page for Space Pioneer features a wealth of information about the intended game's premise and design plans, and detailed bio's of the project's scientific contributors, but offers very little in the way of actual game development credibility - with no mention of any past games that the Space Enigma Studios dev team have shipped. ![]() Our game chiefly focuses on interstellar exploration it is based on images and resources from the Hubble telescope, ESA/NASA, and numerous well known observatories. The project's biggest hook is that several bonafide Russian cosmonauts/astronauts, notable scientists and veteran sci-fi writers are attached, with the pitch naming decorated cosmonauts Sergei Krikalev - the current world record holder for most time spent in space (803 days) - Sergei Avdeyev and Aleksandr Lazutkin, among other contributors purporting to be notable Eastern European scientists and sci-fi writers, journalists and screenwriters. Independent developer Space Enigma Studios launched a Kickstarter project over the weekend, in pursuit of crowdfunding for Space Pioneer, an ambitious sci-fi exploration game with RTS elements, that promises to be heavily grounded in humanity's scientific history.
